Quinze ans après, que reste-t-il de la faculté d’indignation dans un monde en plein chaos ? L’extrême droite, le totalitarisme et le fascisme gagnent du terrain, arrivent au pouvoir dans certains pays, et menacent de nouveau l’État de droit. Quant aux enjeux soulevés par Stéphane Hessel dans Indignez-vous !, ils sont loin d’avoir disparu, bien au contraire : les écarts grandissants entre les riches et les pauvres, l’état de la planète, le traitement réservé aux sans-papiers, aux personnes immigrées, aux Roms, la toute-puissance des élites néolibérales qui prônent le « toujours plus » et imposent la loi des marchés financiers, la remise en cause des acquis de la Résistance (retraites, Sécurité sociale), etc. Or, face aux crises que nous traversons, les mots de Stéphane Hessel nous rappellent que « la pire des attitudes est l’indifférence » et que la colère, l’indignation, l’engagement, l’espoir et la résistance sont primordiaux pour lutter contre les injustices et refuser la barbarie.
